First Kalimah – Kalimah Tayyibah
Transliteration of Kalimah Tayyibah
Laa ilaha illallahu Muhammadur Rasoolullah
Translation of Kalimah Tayyibah
There is no God besides Allah Almighty Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) is the messenger of Allah Almighty.
Virtue of Kalimah Tayyibah
On the authority of Abu Darda, (R.A) the Prophet Muhammed peace be upon him said: Whoever recites this kalima 100 times a day. His face on the Day of Judgment will shine like the 14th full moon.
Second Kalimah – Kalimah Shahadah
Transliteration of Kalimah Shahadah
Ashhadu allaa ilaha illallahu wa ashhadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasooluhu.
Translation of Kalimah Shahadah
I bear witness that there is no God besides Allah Almighty and I bear witness that Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) is His servant and messenger.
Virtue of Kalimah Shahadah
Narrated Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As: that the Messenger of Allah (Pbuh) said: Indeed Allah will distinguish a man from my Ummah before all of creation on the Day of Judgement. Ninety-nine scrolls will be laid out for him, each scroll is as far as the eye can see, then He will say: Do you deny any of this? Have those who recorded this wronged you? He will say: No, O Lord!’ He will say: Do you have an excuse?’ He will say: No, O Lord!’ So He will say: Rather you have a good deed with us, so you shall not be wronged today.
Then He will bring out a card (Bitaqah); on it will be: I testify to La Ilaha Illallah, and I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. He will say: Bring your scales. He will say: O Lord! What good is this card next to these scrolls? He will say: You shall not be wronged. He said: The scrolls will be put on a pan (of the scale), and the card on (the other) pan: the scrolls will be light, and the card will be heavy, nothing is heavier than the Name of Allah. (Tirmidhi 2639)
Third Kalimah – Kalimah Tamjeed
Transliteration of Kalimah Tamjeed
Subhanallahi walhamdu lillahi wala ilaha illallahu wallahu akbar wala hawla wala quwwata illa billahil aliyyil azeem.
Translation of Kalimah Tamjeed
Glory be to Allah Almighty and all praise be to Allah Almighty. There is no God besides Allah Almighty. And, Allah Almighty is the Greatest. There is no power and might except from Allah, The Most High, The Great.
Virtue of Kalimah Tamjeed
Amr bin Shu’aib narrated from his father, from his grandfather, that: The Messenger of Allah (Pbuh) said: Whoever glorifies Allah a hundred times in the morning and a hundred in the night, he is like one who performs Hajj a hundred times. And whoever praises Allah a hundred times in the morning and a hundred in the night. He is like one who provides a hundred horses in the cause of Allah. Or he said – went out on a hundred military expeditions. And whoever pronounced At-Tahlil of Allah a hundred times in the night. Hhe is like the one who freed a hundred slaves from the offspring of Isma’il. And whoever extols Allah’s greatness a hundred times in the day and a hundred in the night, none shall bring on that day, more than what he brought, except one who said similar to what he said, or increased upon it.
Fourth Kalimah – Kalimah Tawheed
Transliteration of Kalimah Tawheed
Laa ilaha illallahu wahdahu la shareeka lahu lahulmulku walahul hamdu yuhyee wa yumeetu biyadihil khair wahua ala kulli shai-in qadeer.
Translation of Kalimah Tawheed
There is no God besides Allah He is One. He has no partner. His is the kingdom and for Him is all praise. He gives life and causes death. In His hand is all good. And He has power over everything.
Virtue of Kalimah Tawheed (1)
Abu Dharr narrated that: The Messenger of Allah (Pbuh) said: Whoever says at the end of every Fajr prayer, while his feet are still folded, before speaking: ‘None has the right to be worshipped but Allah, Alone without partner, to Him belongs all that exists, and to Him is the praise, He gives life and causes death, and He is powerful over all things, (La ilaha illallahu wahdahu la shareeka lahu lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu yuhyi wa yumitu wa huwa ala kulli shay’in qadir) ten times, then ten good deeds shall be written for him, ten evil deeds shall be wiped away from him, ten degrees shall be raised up for him, and he shall be in security all that day from every disliked thing, and he shall be in protection from Shaitan, and no sin will meet him or destroy him that day, except for associating partners with Allah.
Virtue of Kalimah Tawheed (2)
Umarah bin Shabib As-Saba’i narrated that the Messenger of Allah (Pbuh) said: Whoever says: none has the right to be worshipped but Allah, Alone, without partner, to Him belongs all that exists, and to Him belongs the praise, He gives life and causes death, and He is powerful over all things, (La ilaha illallahu, wahdahu la sharika lahu lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu yuhyi wa yumitu wa huwa ala kulli shai’in qadir) ten times at the end of Al-Maghrib – Allah shall send for him protectors to guard him from Shaitan until he reaches morning, and Allah writes for him ten good deeds, Mujibat, and He wipes from him ten of the destructive evil deeds, and it shall be for him the equal of freeing ten believing slaves.
Fifth Kalimah – Iman-E-Mujmal
Transliteration of Iman-E-Mujmal
Aamantu billahi kama huwa bi asma i’hi wa sifatihi wa qabiltu jamee’a ahkamihi.
Translation of Iman-E-Mujmal
I believe in Allah as He is understood by His names and His attributes and I accept all His orders.
Virtue of Iman-E-Mujmal
Prophet Muhammed (Pbuh) explained that at times shaitan tries to confuse a person regarding his belief in Allah Almighty, and he shaitan should just be ignored. This Kalimah is very effective in repelling doubts and confusion from shaitan.
Sixth Kalimah – Iman-E-Mufassal
Transliteration of Iman-E-Mufassal
Aamantu billahi wa malai’katihi wa kutubihi wa rusulihi walyaumil aakhiri wal qadri khairihi wa sharrihi minallahi ta’ala wal ba’si ba’dal maut.
Translation of Iman-E-Mufassal
I believe in Allah, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, the Last Day, and in Taqdir, that all good and bad is from Allah the Most High and I believe in the resurrection after death.
Virtue of Iman-E-Mufassal
Ibn Abbas narrates that the Angel Jibril once asked the Prophet: “Tell me what is Islam?” The Prophet replied: “Iman is to believe in Allah, the Day of Judgment, His (Allah’s) Angels, Books and Prophets and to believe in life after death; and to believe in Paradise and the Fire, and the setting up of the Mizan (scales) to weigh the deeds; and to believe in the Divine Decree, the good and the bad of it (all). Jibril then asked him: “If I do all this will I be with Iman?” The Prophet said: “When you have done all of this, you will be having Iman.
Seventh Kalimah – Istighfar
Transliteration of Istighfar
Astagfirullah rabbi min kulli zambin aznabtuhu amadan aw khata-an sirran aw alaniyataw wa atoobu ilaihi minaz zanbil lazee a’lamu wa minaz zanbil lazee laa a’lamu innaka anta allamul ghuyoob wa sattarul uyoob wa ghaffaruz zunub wala hawla wala quwwata illa billahil aliyyil Azeem.
Translation of Istighfar
I seek forgiveness from Allah, my Lord, from every sin I committed knowingly or unknowingly, secretly or openly, and I turn towards Him from the sin that I know and from the sin that I do not know. Certainly You, You (are) the knower of the hidden things and the Concealer (of) the mistakes and the Forgiver (of) the sins. And (there is) no power and no strength except from Allah, the Most High, the Most Great.
Virtue of Istighfar (1)
Narrated Abubakr as Siddiq the Prophet (Pbuh) said: He who asks pardon is not a confirmed sinner, even if he returns to his sin seventy times a day. (Abi Dawud:1514)
Virtue of Istighfar (2)
The messenger of Allah (Pbuh) said: My heart is invaded by unmindfulness, and I ask Allah’s pardon a hundred times in the day. (Abi Dawud:1515)
Virtue of Istighfar (3)
The messenger (Pbuh) said: O people, seek repentance from Allah. Verily, I seek repentance from Him a hundred times a day.
Eight Kalimah – Sayyidul Istighfar
Transliteration of Sayyidul Istighfar
Allahumma anta rabbi la ilaha illa anta khalaqtani wa ana abduka wa ana ala ahdika wa wa’dika mastata’tu a’uzu bika min sharri ma sana’tu abu’u laka bini’matika alaiya wa abu’u bizambi faghfir Li fa innahu la yaghfiruz zunuba illa anta.
Translation of Sayyidul Istighfar
O Allah! You are my Lord! None has the right to be worshipped but You. You created me and I am Your slave, and I am faithful to my covenant and my promise as much as I can. I seek refuge with You from all the evil I have done. I acknowledge before You all the blessings You have bestowed upon me, and I confess to You all my sins. So I entreat You to forgive my sins, for nobody can forgive sins except You.
Virtue of Sayyidul Istighfar
The Prophet (Pbuh) said: The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah is: Allahumma anta rabbi la ilaha illa anta khalaqtani wa ana abduka wa ana ala ahdika wa wa’dika mastata’tu a’uzu bika min sharri ma sana’tu abu’u laka bini’matika alaiya wa abu’u bizambi faghfir Li fa innahu la yaghfiruz zunuba illa anta. The Prophet (Pbuh) added. If somebody recites it during the day with firm faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening. He will be from the people of Paradise. And if somebody recites it at night with firm faith in it, and dies before the morning. He will be from the people of Paradise.
